On the fourth of October in 1982, Mr. Glenn Gould, one of the most talented pianists since Bach and Beethoven,
died in Toronto.
I fell in love with him and his music almost ten years ago. And I have no idea what my life would have
been without him. Here are some quotes from the biography about him that I bought this morning.

Few pianists play the instrument so beautifully, so lovingly, so musically in manner, and with such regard for its real nature and its enormous literature... Glenn Gould is a pianist with rare gifts for the world. It must not long delay hearing and according him the honor and audience he deserves. We know of no pianist anything like him of any age.

Glenn Gould made every note a gem of loveliness. Scale at all sorts of speed were singing things of many-shaded beauty...Genius as profound as their own was at the keyboard.

“Art is not convenience, is not just one feature of some structure; it is an independent organism
and each single representation of it is independent as well. It is its intrinsic nature to be
released by the nobles aspiration of man and addressed to the nobles aspiration of man,
to be released by man’s profoundest demands on himself, by his conscious desire for contact
with invisible reality and unequivocal truth.” - Glenn Gould

The first piece, played by Gould, I've ever heard was the Aria of the Goldberg Variations.
It was the day I fell in love with this wonderful artist who died one year before I was born.
And now, almost ten years later, I'm still trying to learn how to play that piece. :D
(I have to take some more piano lessons I guess....)

And, I've finished my first Glenn Gould painting today. *yeahh... and it doesn't look that bad;)*
